Course description

An exploration of strategies which help scaffold learning and make the curriculum more accessible for different types of EAL learner, depending on their need.

Training objectives

Delegates will:



  • Understand the different types of EAL learners they may come across in school

  • Identify the different barriers these pupils may face

  • Know which strategies may help make the curriculum accessible

Learning outcomes

Teachers will feel confident to plan for and teach a wide range of learners with EAL, using appropriate strategies and resources that make the curriculum easier to access.

Target Audience: EMA Co-ordinators/Teachers/TAs/English Subject Leads/SENCOs and INCOs/NQTs.

Cost

  • Free to all Portsmouth schools with 'general support' or 'adviser' packages
  • Membership-only schools £100
  • £50 non-attendance fee charged to ALL schools who do not give 24 hours' notice
