Course description

These sessions are designed to enable RE managers to explore, share and develop good practice in RE in their schools. The sessions will focus on helping other staff to understand the cycle of enquiry, know the range of concepts in the Living Difference III syllabus, create and amend planning for RE and help understand assessment issues across the school.

Training objectives

Sessions will cover issues according to the needs of the participants, such as:

  • Supporting other staff in school. What is the Living Difference III RE syllabus all about?

  • Developing schemes of work for RE within a developing, integrated curriculum

  • RE through Literacy

  • Developing thinking skills in RE

  • Assessing RE

  • RE's contribution to pupils' SMSC development

Learning outcomes

Delegates will be able to:


  • Train and advise other teachers about the Living Difference III syllabus, especially the Concepts and Cycle of Enquiry

  • Assess children’s work using the Age Related Expectations from the Syllabus

  • Create an effective system for monitoring RE and be able to talk about how children are making progress in RE in their school

  • Learn about religious and non religious views and help their teachers and children learn about these in the most effective way.

  • Teach RE in a creative way using best practice, research and ideas gained in their RE network group.
