Course description

Taking a close look at different assessment frameworks, including the new Bell Foundation model, delegates will know how to use tracking information to decide what is (or isn't) expected progress for learners with EAL and link this to appropriate teaching strategies.

Training objectives

Delegates will:

  • Consider local and national assessment frameworks

  • Analyse what expected progress looks like for pupils with EAL

  • Explore how this information could be used to maximise EAL learners' progress, including looking at appropriate strategies for the classroom

Learning outcomes

Teachers will be able to assess pupils with EAL and plan appropriate learning opportunities, based on the stage of their acquisition of English.
