Course description

It is an opportunity for new year 6 teachers to look at their English subject knowledge in isolation and within the context of children’s work. They will have the opportunity to look at learning journeys over the year, discussing rich texts to use to create rich outcomes for children. They will also spend time myth busting about the moderation process and be given time to explore what independence looks like in year 6.

If you have booked onto this training after 25th September you will receive the documents you need with your joining instructions.  You will need to view these on the day so will need to either bring a laptop along with you to the session or print them beforehand and bring them with you.

Training objectives

Develop deeper understanding of the moderation and assessment process in Year 6.

Learning outcomes

  • The course will enable attendees to analyse their own evidence bases for moderation in writing.

  • Develop their understanding of what a robust evidence base will look like in this curriculum area.

  • They will also unpick the terms ‘unaided’ and ‘independence’.

  • Have a clear understanding of how to ensure their school is ready for moderation.
