We will clarify terms of reference and consider the current local context in Portsmouth. We will look at what life is like for many RAS families and the implications for children and EYFS settings. We will share some strategies to facilitate supporting parents, children and colleagues.

Training objectives

Many of our educational settings are currently welcoming children who have recently arrived in the UK and who come from Refugee or Asylum seeking families. During this webinar, we will consider some of the practical implications for families and professionals and inclusive approaches to welcoming them into Early Years settings.

• Be aware of difficulties specific to children from a refugee and asylum-seeking background



Be aware of some practical strategies you can employ to work with parents and to ensure an inclusive learning environment for these children
